In 2013, FHGR was the first Swiss university of applied sciences to establish a joint program in tourism management with a Chinese university. Barbara Haller Rupf, as project manager, developed the curriculum, processes and regulations together with the Chinese partners. Furthermore, she recruited the lecturers and gained important experience as a lecturer and insights into the East Asian education system in Shanghai.
"Knowing and accepting cultural differences and developing solutions together was our most important task", Haller and Liu agree. "This was the only way we could reconcile the different starting points and expectations."
